Artist's Profile using Laser Cutting technology
SCULPTOR - ARTHUR AMON
ONCE WAS BLIND - a few words from the artist
"Fish interest me. They are not an inexhaustible resource, in spite of the way we treat them.
Barracuda are treated with some scorn, because they're too oily and tend to accumulate parasites, hence no good for eating. When they are caught, they are often used as bait for sharks - which I think is a sad end for such a purpose-built predator.
I like using recycled materials - these old venetians have many nice characteristics, not least of which are their grain, and the smell of the wood when I'm working it. I may explore the dangerous nature of pencils some more too."
Here is an example of using the laser cutter to create an artwork. The material is recycled wooden blinds and after drawing up the specific artwork, the pieces were cut and then assembled piece by piece. These artworks are part of our November exhibition and will be up until December 22nd 2011. Contact us if you would like to know about the artworks or feel free to come and have a look during our opening hours.
